Blight Committee Unanimously Backs Foreclosure on Property Fines

Blight Review Committee · Meeting of September 3, 2026

CT ENFIELD — Enfield Blight Committee backs foreclosure on unpaid property maintenance fines. The Committee unanimously recommended that the Town Council foreclose on $45,024 in accumulated fines at 42 Asnuntuck Street after finding no progress on building and fire violations since December 2025. Deputy Mayor John Santanella, Jennifer Bruyette, and Jennifer Bakowski voted to approve the recommendation, with Community Development Specialist Kristy Koistinen presenting information about the long-stalled property.

The Committee also agreed to recommend removing tree-violation language from the Property Maintenance Ordinance, reasoning that such complaints should be civil disputes between property owners rather than town-enforced violations.
