Committee advances five-school referendum after securing state waivers for two schools
PK-5 Elementary Schools & Eagle Academy Therapeutic Day School Pre-Referendum Committee · Meeting of May 20, 2026
CT ENFIELD — Five-school construction project advances after state approves two schools for waivers. The Pre-K Through 5 and Eagle Academy School Pre-Referendum Building Committee, chaired by Randy Daigle, heard from Architect John Santanella that Prudence Crandall School and Hazardville Memorial School secured approval in the state's construction bill, while three schools will pursue waivers through administrative and legislative routes. The state allocated funds for only two schools because Enfield's request represented 25 percent of a $2 billion statewide school construction bonding request.
The committee confirmed one referendum question will cover all five schools, scheduled for November 3, 2026, with the grant application due by mid-June.
