Council accepts Charter Revision Commission draft report as final
Town Council · Meeting of June 23, 2026
CT ENFIELD — The Town Council accepts the Charter Revision Commission draft report without modification. The council voted 8-3 to reject two proposed amendments: one that would have extended the town attorney vacancy-filling period to match the town manager vacancy period, and another that would have clarified capital expenditure sourcing to include education funds. Deputy Mayor John Santanella argued that extended timelines reduce urgency; Councilor Carol Hall pushed for clarification language to prevent referendum workarounds.
Mayor Gina Cekala cautioned that additional wording risked creating confusion. The charter advances unchanged.
