Council authorizes $6 million in federal spending applications

CT ENFIELD — Enfield Town Council authorizes $6 million in federal grants and extends veterans tax exemptions. The Council voted unanimously to submit three applications for Congressionally Directed Spending totaling $6 million for design of police station expansion with Emergency Medical Services space, Connecticut River waterfront development, and municipal sewer system improvements, with Director of Economic and Community Development Aaron Marcavitch reporting strong likelihood of federal funding for the Thompsonville sewer project. The Council also unanimously extended property tax exemptions to veterans with service-connected total disability based on individual unemployability, effective October 1, 2026, expected to benefit approximately 27 additional veterans.
