Council backs charter revision referendum; defers school bond vote
Town Council · Meeting of August 24, 2026
CT ENFIELD — Enfield Town Council advances charter revision to November referendum on divided 8-to-3 vote. Chair Gina Cekala, along with Council members Linda Allegro, Robert Cressotti, Cynthia Mangini, Maya Matthews, John Santanella, and Aaron Thomas, supported the measure, which would take effect December 4, 2026, if approved by voters. Opposing the charter revision were Council members Carol Hall, Marie Pyznar, and Lori Unghire.
The council also unanimously tabled an $89 million school modernization appropriation and scheduled a new public hearing for September 2 after Town Manager Matthew Coppler identified an agenda posting error that did not properly state the hearing's subject matter.
