Council establishes Charter Revision Commission, approves $10M marketplace funding

CT ENFIELD — Enfield Town Council approves $10 million marketplace development grant. The council voted unanimously to accept a Community Investment Fund 2030 award from Connecticut's Department of Economic and Community Development for the Enfield Marketplace project, authorizing Town Manager Matthew Coppler to execute all necessary agreements. The council also unanimously established a Charter Revision Commission of five to fifteen members to modernize the town charter after a prior revision failed with voters; appointments are targeted for January or February with a November 2026 voter presentation.
Two procedural motions failed 6-4: one to terminate a $1.7 million Board of Education cost-sharing agreement, another to appropriate $285,000 for school music and equipment. Councilors Hall, Pyznar, Unghire, and Zannoni opposed both items, insisting that items with fiscal impact require full public review.
