CT ENFIELD — Enfield approves $166 million budget with 4 percent tax increase. The Town Council voted 7 to 4 to adopt the fiscal year 2027 budget, setting the property tax rate at 33.11 mills on real estate and business personal property, a 1.61 mill increase. The spending plan included $83.58 million for schools and $2.5 million for vehicle replacements.
Mayor Gina Cekala and Deputy Mayor John Santanella said the increase was necessary to address years of deferred maintenance and teacher staffing, while the minority faction led by Councilor Carol Hall opposed all 13 of their proposed amendments to cut spending, citing concerns about the growing tax burden on residents.
