Enfield schools open year with staffing gains, project advances

CT ENFIELD — Enfield schools open with improved staffing outlook ahead of major building referendum. Superintendent Steven A. Moccio reported the district is "in a much better position" than prior years, with eight certified and approximately 30 non-certified positions open but drawing large candidate pools.
The Board honored Quinn Hannagan, Behavior Technician at Eagle Academy, as Support Staff of the Year and Nicole Catuccio, EHS Social Studies teacher, as Teacher of the Year. The Town Council advanced planning for a 511-million-dollar Eagle Academy and PK-5 Schools project, scheduling a public hearing for September 2 with a referendum expected November 3; the town estimates its net cost at 55 to 60 million dollars based on state reimbursements.
