CT ENFIELD — Fair Rent Commission issues orders in two tenant-landlord disputes over repairs and rent. The commission ordered landlord Shamin Chaudry to complete building code violations within 90 days of pulling permits and to have the Fire Marshal install carbon dioxide and smoke detectors by January 30, while tenant Laurie Harkins pays rent into town escrow with the amount increasing to $1,990 per month starting March 1. In a second hearing, landlord Magali Velenzuela was ordered to balance heating vents and replace an attic closet light while providing tenants 24-hour notice before unit entry; tenant Desiree McKay-Rogers must pay $400 in past-due June rent by March 1.
