Finance Committee addresses Nutrition Department deficit challenges

CT ENFIELD — Finance Committee reviews Nutrition Department deficit and budget status. Diane Edwards, Director of Nutrition Department, presented a quarterly report on February 2 showing operating deficits that require Board of Education subsidy under state statute. Ms.

Edwards highlighted challenges including unpaid meal balances and low participation in the Free and Reduced Lunch Program. Business Manager Lorena Cisneros reviewed FY2026 budget variances and noted that the self-funded insurance account must return any year-end surplus to the Town.
