Town Council authorizes $8 million in federal funding requests

CT ENFIELD — Enfield Town Council authorizes $8 million in federal funding requests for infrastructure projects. Town Manager Matthew Coppler received unanimous authorization to submit four $2 million Community Project Funding applications for police and EMS facility expansion design, a Connecticut River pier and overlook, North Main Street streetscape improvements, and sanitary sewer system enhancements. The council also approved special legislation for submission to Connecticut's state delegation seeking waivers and reimbursement protections for a planned 2026-2032 school modernization program targeting four elementary schools and Eagle Academy.
Director of Public Works Donald Nunes received $199,000 to replenish roadway salt after 18 winter storms produced 52.75 inches of snow, the highest total since 2016-2018.
