Town Council votes to allow Pride flag at Town Hall
Town Council · Meeting of May 18, 2026
CT ENFIELD — Enfield Town Council approves new flag policy allowing Pride flag display in 7-2 vote. Mayor Gina Cekala, Council Chair John Santanella, and five council members supported repealing the prior flag policy and adopting regulations allowing Pride flag displays as expressions of government speech. Marie Pyznar and Lori Unghire voted against, citing concerns about potential litigation and arguing the American flag is the most inclusive symbol.
The Council also voted unanimously to convey a portion of Lot 29 Main Street to the state Department of Transportation for the Enfield Railroad Station project for $90,500.
